Things I Wish I Knew 10 Years Ago

Life Lessons

What I’d say to my 20-year old self…

Although I’m a strong believer in never regretting anything, sometimes I look back at myself and ask “what was I thinking?!”  If  I could travel back in time, in no specific order, this is what I’d say to my 20-year-old self:

1. Stop doubting yourself.

Don’t let other people dictate your worth.  Go with what you believe in and run with it.   Mistakes are simply mistakes. They are meant for you to learn from.  So, don’t be hard on yourself. Move on from your mistakes and don’t look back.  You are stronger and wiser from before.

2. Embrace the unexpected.

Life is full of unexpected events.  Savor every moment. Appreciate what you have now, and take tons of bikini pics while you’re at it.  Rock that bikini bod hard girl because you look amazing!

3.  Hardships reveal true friends.

In those times that people may or may not understand what you are going through, no matter what the circumstance, the people who love you will stick by you.  Surround yourself with people who you lift you up and are there for you when life gets hard.  All those posers who pretend they are your friend but don’t support you or are negative around you are not worth your friendship.

4.  Listen to your gut.

This lesson has been, by far, the biggest surprise of all.  I have used this in deciding friendships, hiring babysitters, and in other facets in general.  I have never regretted a decision I made while listening to that gut feeling.

5.  Don’t let “no” stop you.

There were so many moments within my photography career that I just wanted to give up.  All the hours that went into website building,  Work hard and don’t give up.

Regardless of what you believe happiness is, remember to love yourself
