Elaina’s Custom Framing and Fine Art Gallery is a charming place that resides on the hustling avenue of Main Street in Collegeville, PA. In it, you’ll find a warm and inviting place filled with people who are passionate about what they do. They are celebrating their 20 year anniversary this year. It is reassuring that this business knows what it is doing. These artists create custom framing for original artwork ranging from photography to glass tile paintings. Each piece is diligently cared for and created with the highest quality archival products available.
Keep reading to find out what Marianne, owner of Elaina’s Fine Art Gallery, and I chatted about below.
I had a moment to speak with Marianne about her business:
A: I think it’s important for their family and for their children. Families are not going to be able to pull up digital files like you can with a box of photographs. I find digitals cold and careless. I know I can’t keep track of all of my digital photographs. I’ve lost a lot of my photos so many times on my camera or on my phone. Framing photographs are wonderful. My mother kept everything from hospital bands to baby announcements. I have my Christening dress shadowboxed. At some point in time, if my kids want to use that Christening dress we could pop it out of that box and it would be in perfect condition. And if not, it is a beautiful piece. It’s just a warm very tender thing to have.
A: Everyone here has their own niche. Terry and Sue are fine art artists, and I went to design school for art. I like to suggest customers who get shadowboxing to come in on Friday for Sue. Sue specializes in shadowboxes and crafting projects. If someone is really picky about a mat color and is obsessing over getting the perfect thing, Terry is the perfect person. Terry works really well with cross switching and canvas stretching pieces. For something grand, theatrical, or a big statement piece, I think I’m the best for that.
A: I have a wide range of customers. They range from older women who enjoy cross stitching to young married couples. They are people who value preserving art with archival materials. They understand the value that has to be treated with such care. We handle things very carefully if it’s something personal to someone. We even do a lot of pieces for Ursinus College and their art museum and art shows.
A: During Christmas, we have “magic donuts” and it is so unhealthy. There is so much framing to be done before Christmas so we sometimes use that as an excuse to eat donuts. We also have a Christmas tree and find it important, even if we are busy, to exchange presents with each other. I think its a really nice thing to do.
A: I would say the girls are like mice. We like a lot of cheese. I like to eat red pickled beets.
A: We are going to have lots of small gifts that are under $50 that are original pieces. It is a good gift that is a little bit more creative than going to a store and buying something. Giving someone an original gift is unique and fun.
A: I’m doing yoga at the gallery, it is a new passion of mine. I became a teacher and received my certificate in July 2017. Right now I have friends who come in and then I just want to have it as a fun extra activity to enjoy.
A: “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.” Saint Padre Pio
