Prepping for a photo session is exciting and fun to plan. Part of my job as a photographer is to help you feel ready when you don’t know where to start in preparing for it. So without further ado, let’s get to the checklist!
Check out my Pinterest board for inspiration. I recommend using colors in your home when planning your outfits. Since your portraits will ultimately hang in your home, plan clothing colors that complement your home style.
Get to bed early. Rested parents and children make beautiful photographs. It also helps to eliminate unwanted redness or baggy eyes.
I don’t know about you, but when I’m hungry I get real grumpy. Make sure everyone – especially children and dads are well fed before your session. Bring snacks if you think you may need a quick bite before your session.
It’s important to use the bathroom or make any last minute adjustments right before your session. You may want to do a quick hair/makeup retouch or make sure faces are clean after eating that granola bar in the car.
If you’re wondering about how you can make your session personal and memorable, feel free to bring along any props, pets, and other details that are special to you. I want your session to scream YOU. Whatever you want in your photos, I’ll do my best to make it happen!
Most importantly, relax and have fun! Throughout your time I want you to be fully in the moment. Remember, I do this for a living so leave the smiles to me.
When booking with me, I like to offer my “client guide” that goes more in depth within these few topics above – and of course, offer my full attention to any questions or uncertainties you might have. I am here for you!
