How I Became A Photographer

How I Became a Photographer

Rose Sullivan New Willow PhotographyIt all started with this gorgeous lens – the Canon 50mm f1.8 (aka “the nifty fifty”). I don’t remember how I got my hands on the 50mm lens, but I swear it was love at first sight.  I had always enjoyed taking photos of people all throughout my life, but this lens was a game changer.
After photographing with the 50mm lens, it all kind of snowballed out of control from there.  I discovered the many gorgeously different and connected parts in taking a photograph.  I couldn’t get enough and quickly became obsessed.
Something so incredible happens when I get behind the lens when photographing families and children.  It’s thrilling and I never want it to stop.  I can only explain it as something you can’t touch – but feel as it rushes through me.
Photographs are more than just pictures to put on a wall but is an actual moment, a piece in history.
They tell stories about what life is all about. For me, life is about the unbreakable bonds between a love so constant- it is fueled by love at first sight, beauty, off-the-cuff moments and wonder.
How I became a photographer stems from my love for my husband and children – my everlasting constant.
